Qube for multiple OS networks
« on: April 24, 2006, 11:23:28 AM »
Hi all,

I'm wondering how others have gone about setting up Qube on networks running multiple types of operating systems.

I work for one of the Pipeline resellers and I currently have a client evaluating Qube.
They are currently set up with central storage on an OS X Server. Workstations are a mix of Linux, Windows and Mac, all running Maya.
At the moment we've got the Windows workstations accessing the server using a SMB mount. This works well, however problems arise when we try and add workstations running OS X. By default these connect to the server with an AFP mount. The end result is a file on the server, accessible by both the Windows and OS X workstations. Unfortunately the path to that same file differs according to the type of mount being used (SMB or AFP). This causes a big problem when Qube tries to render the same job on both Windows and OS X workers.

Has anyone set Qube up in a similar situation? How can we set the network up to work around the differing path issue?

Thanks for the help!
