How do I use the GUI to render After Efects version 8?  Do I say it is 7?  When will AE 8 be supported?

Hi kitten,

Probably the most straigtforward way is to edit the job.conf file
(found in /Applications/pfx/jobtypes/aftereffects/).

Add the path to the new aerender executable
("/Applications/Adobe After Effects CS3" on the Mac) to the
"app_paths" parameter, and also change the "default_appversion" to "8.0".

Then, when you submit a job, leave the "AE Version" box empty.

AE8.0/CS3 will be directly supported in our next release of the ae jobtype.  ETA, at this moment, is unknown.

STEPS TO RERODUCE

We set the conf file as you specify.

We set up the AE NTSC wedding demo in After Effects 8.0.

We set up the Render Queue using a shared drive on another computer.  Output is set to a QuickTime movie on the shared drive.   It renders OK on the Mac manually.  We added the job to the Render Queue again.

We Save the project with the Render Queue set.

We use the menu File->Collect Files to send all the project and related stuff to the shared drive.

In Qube Submit an After Effects Job with the version blank and only the project set to the project in shared drive folder.

The shared drive is set up with the same path on the Worker.

Qube shows the project state pending.  After Refresh it shows completed with 0.0 seconds render time with no errors.

Obvious there was no render.

Hi Kitten,

My apologies for this thread going unanswered in a while.

We have just released a new version of the AE jobtype, with support
for AE8 (AKA CS3).  Please hop onto our ftp site, and give it a spin.
You may also find it here:

http://support.pipelinefx.com/smf/downloads/jobtypes/5.2/aftereffects/

If you still have issues with your AE renders, please don't hesitate to contact us.
We'll likely need the detailed job logs from your failed jobs, so it's probably
a good idea to open a support case with us by email us at support@pipelinefx.com.

Thanks!
