Mental Ray Setup
« on: January 24, 2008, 12:37:39 AM »
I am getting a mental ray error after I submit.

ERROR: Exception caught!-- ERROR: fatal error!! at C:\Program Files\pfx\jobtypes/maya/MelProcessor.pm line 580.

In the stdout I see

mel: mel: Error: (Mayatomr) : could not get a license

I know mental ray does not need a license server since it can load itself standalone when maya is launched from the worker. So am I missing some configuration setup for mental ray??

We're trying to just do Maya renders *using* Mental Ray.

thanks,

Tom

We're also seeing this error quite frequently. Any chance of a response?

If you don't have Maya Unlimited, there is a limit to the number of simultaneous Mayatomr instances you can run. Try reducing the number of subjobs (cpus option) to the job and see if that makes the problem go away. If that's the case, you need more mental ray for Maya licenses.

Here is a posting regarding a problem on the Worker that may be related:
