Lost pipe to Maya
« on: June 25, 2008, 01:01:41 AM »
Another thing happend on way to setting up Qube.

I connected a box running 10.4.10 to the render farm. I got the NFS set, The box is apart of the DNS, and its using a different user but its still in proxy mode. As I am rendering on this box, it completes some of frames until it starts skipping frames and keeps them in "pending". I looked through the Stderr to find that it runs through trying to render a frame once, then gives me this error:

"ERROR: Exception caught!-- ERROR: lost pipe to maya-- has it crashed? at /Applications/pfx/jobtypes/maya/MelProcessor.pm"

Would this mean that the Qube! Maya job type is not working, or is it the local Maya installation that isnt up to par?

Thanks again.

This would mean that Maya has crashed. Where the error occurs in the logs might give you a clue as to what happened to Maya. It's hard to say what caused the crash without knowing the context. It could be improper Maya installation, unlicensed plugins, memory contention, plugin architecture conflicts--the list is quite long.
