3DSMAX 2009 PC render blades quirk.
« on: May 14, 2009, 03:58:37 PM »
OK, hopefully this question isnt quite as irrelevant as my last one. I have setup the end user with a 8 blade rendering setup, all running Vista64 and 3DSMAX 2009. When I submit jobs to 1 blade at a time, all 8 work fine. If I submit a job to all 8 blades however, the system only fires up 2 of them. I tried changing the number of CPU's assigned to the job, locking all but 1 CPU on each blade, and resubmitting, but it still just runs on 2 blades at a time. Is this a Max thing perhaps?

Rendering on only 2 machines at a time

Running on only 2 machines at a time is a symptom that the license has not been installed or installed properly.  You can do a "qbping" from the commandline to check on the Supervisor license status.  If it shows something like 0/2 or 2/2 and you have more than 2 licenses of Qube, then the license file is not being read properly.

Gotcha. I'll check it tomorrow when I am at that site (nothing like 2 big installs going at once to drive you crazy).

Yup, inertia got me. put the license file in the XP location. Once I moved it to the correct folder for Vista, all is well.
