Is proxy.exe dead?

Hi, there
    I had noticed Qube started a program called proxy.exe first when rendered a job. like below:
running proxy command: "C:\Program Files\pfx\qube\\sbin\proxy.exe" -host 127.0.0.1 -nice 0 -port 50011 -jobid 21496 -subid 4 -api "C:\Program Files\pfx\qube\\api"

    My problem is that sometimes an agenda displayed running info for huors, but when I logined into the machine which rendered this agenda, I found this machine was idle and no render program had been started. The proxy.exe looked like dead in the task manager.When I killed the proxy.exe process in the task manager. This machine moved on and started to render normally. It was so weird.

    I don't the reason. Wish you guys can help me with this.

Hi Tim,

I'm a little bit confused when you say the proxy.exe process is "dead", since
you say you go and kill it later, and that unsticks the job.

Do you perhaps mean that the proxy.exe command is existent but stalled
(appears to be not doing anything useful).

I'm not sure what kind of job (maya, 3dsmax, ...?) is getting stuck, but make sure of the following :

* your job is submitted with the "disable_windows_job_object" flag
* "User Access Control (UAC)", from "Control Panel > User Accounts" is disabled
* "Interactive Services Dialog Detection Service", from "Administrative tools > Services" panel is disabled

Sometimes, applications can bring up a pop-up menu waiting for user input, and the above can help resolve that. 

Also with applications such as 3ds Max, your execution user (qubeproxy in your case), may need to have the administrator privilege on the worker.
